What to do when the vast majority of local businesses are deemed non-essential and thus need to be closed or significantly scaled back to comply with the shelter in place order that now extends through May 3?

As we have already seen countless times by Mill Valley businesses, the answer Is: create, innovate and leverage the power of the internet. Thirteen of the tenants in the Mill Valley Lumber Yard are doing just that. Here's a list of how they're making the most of an unprecedented moment in history. With a shelter-in-place spring break, Easter and Passover on the horizon, there's no shortage of things you can do, eat and buy right from the (inescapable) comforts of your own home!

BŌL Superfood Cafe is surging toward its goal of delivering "Pay It Forward" 600 meals to First Responders.

If Chelsea Hutchison and her team make it to the goal, Mon Rêve Chocolate Studio, the latest addition to MVLY, has offered to donate 35 of their chocolate eggs to the “Heros + Sheros.”

Mad Dogs and Englishmen is offering heavily discounted daily and weekly e-bike rental rates: daily rates are 50% off and weekly rates start at $100/ per week. Payment and electronic insurance waiver can be done electronically before you pick up your bike(s). Curbside pickup or delivery available. All bikes are being sanitized before and after each ride. Also offering 2-for-1 gift cards to be used towards future bike rentals and guided tours with no expiration date.

The Mill Valley Studio has $5 photo editing, $50 Zoom photoshoots, $15 product photography (drop on doorstep). Call 415.320.3897 for details or click here to schedule.

Lulu Designs Jewelry is offering 20% off online orders with code VIP20, free shipping and returns, virtual appointments available.

Makers Market has free shipping on online orders over $75 with code SHIPPING100, plus elizabeth W Hand Spray (made with 70% alcohol) is back in stock!

Victoria Mimiaga Fine Art is providing 20% off commissioned pet portraits.

Bloomingayles is also giving 20% off all inventory, including spring wreaths, dreamcatchers, succulent planters, candles, cbd cream, vintage french vases, champagne buckets, rosaries, crystals and dry flowers. Delivery to home or arrange for pick-up. Please call Gayle 415.298.4047.

FarmHouseUrban has 20% off in-stock merchandise, including table top, blankets, essential oil diffusers, and bees wax candles. Open by digital appointment. Click here to email for details.

Watershed Restaurant remains open for takeout and delivery, and is offering half off wine bottles, 8oz wine glass pours and discounted beer for take out.

Flour Craft Bakery has created “Bundles,” easy to-go packs for your family. Now offering Sunday Brunch Boxes, Bagel Boxes, and Bread Family Packs amongst other items, all available for pre-order online or for same day orders call 415.384.8244. You can also grab a Family Dinner for 4 box, in time for weekend orders. Gift cards and e-gift cards now available, click here to inquire.

Once Around is offering FREE Knit Night on Wednesdays from 6-7pm OR FREE Sewing Bee to make masks for you or someone at risk. For Zoom info or to learn more, click here.

The Writer’s Nest, home to on-site author, Karen Benke, is hosting a virtual “Snail Mail Museletter Adventure” for girls 9-13 years-old. This upcoming “Adventure” has room for 15 participants and involves snail mail surprises, writing buddies, and virtual check-ins. For more info click here or email Karen.
