
Mill Valley resident Betty Goerke, now the chairperson of the Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin (MAPOM), is a professor emeritus at College of Marin, where she has taught anthropology and archaeology for more than 40 years. For this event, Goerke will dive into “Paradise Lost: When Indians Lived in Mill Valley," an exploration of Chief Marin and the Coast Miwok Indians, who were once so prevalent in Mill Valley and Marin.
The 411: The Mill Valley Historical Society's annual meeting and dinner on Thursday, Oct. 18 kicks off with social hour at 6pm, followed by dinner at 6:45pm, the members' meeting at 7:30pm and Goerke's presentation at 7:45pm. The event is at the Community Center, 180 Camino Alto. Open to members only but anyone can join at the door. Membership dues range from $15 for seniors to $1,000 for lifetime.
