For one fleeting afternoon each year, Mill Valley's Downtown Plaza transforms into the happiest place on earth for oenophiles, gourmands and craft beers. That day is almost upon us.

On Sunday, June 2 (1-4pm), the Mill Valley Wine, Beer & Gourmet Food Tasting returns to downtown Mill Valley, continuing to showcase the best wine, beer and gourmet food that Northern California and the West Coast have to offer. In doing so, the event serves up master class in maximizing space, packing nearly 60 wineries, more than a dozen breweries, 20-plus gourmet food makers and 10 fantastic local restaurants onto the plaza, along with sponsors, live music from the Michael White Band and, of course, hundreds and hundreds of food and drink lovers.

Sponsored by Mill Valley Market since 1981, the event raises thousands of dollars for Kiddo!, the Mill Valley Schools Community Foundation, and the Mill Valley Chamber.

And in its continuing quest to vastly reduce the environmental footprint of a historic, complex event, the MV Chamber continues its partnership with the City of Mill Valley, the Marin County Hazardous Waste JPA, North Bay Conservation Corps, Mill Valley Refuse, a dream Green Team of volunteers  and all event vendors to make the event as Zero Waste as possible.

In addition to all that, the event also features complimentary valet bicycle parking, provided by the Marin County Bicycle Coalition and sponsored by Tam Bikes on Miller Avenue.

And when the event ends, you don't have to wonder where to take the after-party. Chris and Lindsey Wanner's West Coast Wine • Cheese shop, which opened at 31 Sunnyside Ave. in late 2018, is the official after-party for the event. The Wanner's downtown Mill Valley shop has developed a burgeoning reputation for its deep ties to vineyards up and down the west coast.

From 4:30-6:30pm after the event, West Coast Wine • Cheese is hosting a special tasting with celebrity winemaker and Mill Valley native Ross Cobb, who will be showcasing his Cobb Family of wines. A Tam High graduate from the class of 1988, Cobb worked with Williams Selyem from 1998-2000, Flowers from 2000-2008, and Hirsch from 2009-2015, making him undoubtedly the most esteemed winemaker to claim Mill Valley in his upbringing.

Five of Cobbs wines will be poured at the event – a riesling, a chardonnay and three pinot noirs – with discounts available to all WBGFT attendees with wristbands. Discounts apply to both full and half glasses, as well as full bottles in house and taken to go. MORE INFO.
