Get Ready for Valentine's Day @ Makers Market's Outdoor Markets at the MV Lumber Yard – Feb. 9

It happens to many of us: we dive in the new year, January whizzes right by and all of a sudden Valentine's Day is staring us right in the face – what to get that special someone at the last minute?

Lucky for you, Mill Valley is loaded with great options, from the incredible array of apparel and jewelry shops to a lineup of dinner options that rival anywhere in the North Bay.

Makers Market's shop at the Mill Valley Lumber Yard is among the the newest kids on the block, and the store's slate of monthly (second Saturday) Outdoor Markets, which span most of the MVLY property and encompass 20 independent creators, artists and makers, continues Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10am-5pm. Those makers and artisans will be showcasing their wares, including jewelry, body products, ceramics, glassware and pottery throughout the property. There will also be live music throughout the event. In the event of rain, the makers will be in the former Guideboat space at the northwest end of the property.

Among the artists and vendors at the Outdoor Market will be the Valentine's Day favorites Collective Hearts, founded by a group of women with deep Marin roots, including Playa co-owner Vanessa Higgins. Co-founder Lisa Rueff says Collective Hearts "was created to spread love freely and abundantly, front and center, and always from the heart."

With each Collective Hearts necklace purchase, customers receive a small heart token to give to a friend, loved one, or complete stranger to brighten their day, and each necklace purchase supports the Jacmel Children’s Center, a school and children's home in Haiti.

And for shoppers looking for a Valentine's Day gift for children, Sausalito-based Project Squeeble makes handcrafted monsters that need love, friends and hugs. Made of upcycled and fibershed materials, each Squeeble comes with a personality to fit its owner.

NOTE: Help the environment and take advantage of the easy transit, pedestrian and bike access to the Lumber Yard, with 60 bike parking spaces onsite. If you need to drive, don’t park in front of neighbors homes as there is ample median public parking in the surrounding area.
