In a note to customers July 2, Joe's Taco Lounge owner Gabriel Leis announced that the longtime Miller Ave. eatery is closing temporarily "following the positive test for COVID-19 by one of our team members. We have decided to be extra cautious and remain closed while we further assess the situation and await test results from all staff members. For the safety of ourselves, our community, and our beloved patrons, we have taken this step to help stop the spread of the virus in the most proactive way possible."
"By county guidelines, with the information we currently have, we are scheduling our re-opening for Wednesday, July 7," Leis continued. "That said, this is a very dynamic situation and we will adjust the schedule if needed based on what is safest for our staff and customers. We are so very grateful to our incredible community for the support we have received in the past 3 months. We promise we’ll do everything we can to maintain strict standards of cleanliness and protocols for sanitation, follow all guidelines as presented to us by Marin County EHS, and remain open and honest about the situation as it unfolds. Have a happy holiday everyone, be safe out there. We love you very much."
Leis noted that Cup of Joe’s, their morning coffee and breakfast service, will remain open, as the affected individual was not in close contact with Cup of Joe’s staff.
