“We have up to 30,000 people or more a day during the fair,” Calicchio told the Marin IJ at the time. “I just can’t imagine that that is a safe and healthy choice for our community. The most important thing to us is the health and safety of our community.”
Now Calicchio has unveiled Plan B: a virtual fair, with weekly competitions including decorated baked goods, toilet paper roll art, pet costume contests, funny family photos, poetry including haiku, coordinated family dance routines and more stay-at-home-friendly activities. Competitions will be announced each week on Facebook and Instagram and people will have one week to post their entries in the replies section that week.
Virtual blue ribbons will be awarded to the winners and each winner will receive a pair of tickets to the 2021 Marin County Fair.
